DELIVERING AN INCLUSIVE, ADAPTABLE COMMUNITY CHURCH
The feasibility study explores opportunities to sensitively adapt the Trinity Building in Southsea, balancing heritage conservation with accessibility, sustainability and wider public benefit.
Working collaboratively with the church, the study considers how existing spaces and facilities could evolve to meet current requirements and respond to the changing needs of the congregation and local community. Key considerations include improving kitchen and toilet facilities, exploring the potential for a café, and reimagining existing halls and performance spaces to support a wider range of uses.
The ambition is to establish a flexible, inclusive and future-ready community hub while preserving the building’s identity and significance as a place of worship. The architectural study identifies opportunities and constraints, helping to shape a brief for future development and encouraging greater community involvement, from local events and social activities to potential entrepreneurial initiatives that support a vibrant and connected Southsea.
