DESIGN LED MASTERPLAN

Studio BAD are working with a local independent housing developer to design a masterplan to redevelop a former allotment site, set in a pretty rural village within the South Downs National Park.

The development will deliver five new three- and one-bedroom homes, offering a mix of detached and terrace houses in a landscape-led masterplan approach. The design introduces a mix of materials to reflect the local vernacular; by employing a broken terrace it avoids a continuous ridge line or the formality of buildings tightly lined up along the new lane. By following this carefully considered design it will reflect the character and nature of the local area.

As part of the early design stage, we assisted the developer to bring the vision for the site to life to help with their community engagement plans, bringing together local voices to assist with the creation of richer design solutions.
