HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS FOR SENSATIVE SETTING

Studio BAD are working with a local, independent developer to create a housing scheme in the village of Plaistow in West Sussex. The site is set on a sensitive position within the settlement boundary of Chichester allocated for housing, adjacent to a conservation area.

The masterplan for the housing development looks to deliver fifteen new high-quality dwellings, carefully positioned around a central green amenity space. This landscape feature will support and enhance the biodiversity of the development, whilst also seamlessly blending the new scheme into the historic settlement. The development has been carefully and thoughtfully planned, avoiding any detrimental visual impact on the wider context around Plaistow village.

Key principles behind our design concept for the scheme is to create a housing development that provides contemporary, sustainable and affordable housing, at the same time to considering the future demands for energy-efficient design.

As part of the early design stage, we assisted the developer to bring the vision for the site to life to help with their community engagement plans, bringing together local voices to assist with the creation of richer design solutions.
